A Travel Timeline of the past 7 years:

A little diary to keep track of my life.

2015

Australia (9 months)

Sep 2015,18yo Marsha left her abusive home in Hong Kong and bought a one-way ticket to Australia. She never thought a plan to travel for 2 months would end up being 6 years and counting. She went everywhere except Victoria and Tasmania, road-tripped both the East and West coast. As well as the Gibbs River Road of the Kimberley (least inhabited and studied area of the world). When she hitchhiked alone from Broom to Darwin, it almost turned into a nightmare. Worked in Darwin in a Japanese restaurant.

Indonesia (1 month)
Landed in Bali and sailed from Lombok to Flores Island.

Vietnam (1 month)
Went from South to North. Motorbike-tripped the North.

Thailand (2 months)
All around
.

Malaysia (2 weeks)
Penang and KL

Philippines (1 month)
Manila, Boracay, Palawan, Coron, Cebu and Bohol

Myanmar (2 months)
All around, went to the Fire Balloon Festival (probably the most dangerous festival in the world), ventured into Chin Hills visiting remote villages with the tradition of women having fully tattooed faces. Overstayed 25 days

Thailand (1 month)
Christmas and New Year on the islands

2017-2018

Nepal (2.5 months)
Volunteered with an NGO to build a school in a remote village. Gained muscles.

Iran (1 month)
Tehran -> Isfahan ->Yazd -> Garmeh (oasis in desert) ->camping in random desert -> Kerman -> Balujestan -> Bandar Abbas -> Hormuz Island -> started hitching from the very south to the very North of Iran! ->Tabriz -> hitched to Iraqi Kurdistan!

Iraq (Kurdistan) (1 month)
Hitchhiking. Erbil, Sulay, Dahok, Lalish, the Hamilton Road. Turned 20.

Turkey (3 weeks)
Hitchhiking. Southern border towns with Syria -> Mt. Nemrut -> Cappadocia -> Istanbul

Greece (5 months)
2 weeks working in scuba diving center, 4 weeks working in a house, 2 weeks camping, 1 week Couchsurfing in Santorini, the rest of the time volunteering in Lesvos. Spotting refugee boast and aiding their arrival

Macedonia, Kosovo, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Monaco, France (1.5 months)
hitchhiking from Greece to France. Explored each country a little bit. Then took a €5 flight from Nice to London.

London (6 months)
working and living in London. Turned 21.

Morocco (6 weeks)
All around, hitchhiked. Surfed 3 weeks.

Kyrgyzstan/Tajikistan/Afghanistan (4 months)
cycling from Osh to Khorog, then entering the Wakhan Corridor.

Uzbekistan (1 week)
Had to fly to Pakistan. (I couldn't get a visa to cross China)

Pakistan (6 months (Oct 2018-Apr 2019)
Cycled the North. Had an absolutely amazing time traveling all over the country. Turned 22.

2019

India (1 week (May 2019)

Sri Lanka (3 weeks)

Afghanistan (3 weeks (June 2019)
My second time in this country. Visited Kabul, Bamiyan, Band e Amir and Kandahar.

India (6 weeks)
200hr Yoga Teacher training

Sri Lanka (2 months)
Working as a yoga teacher in a surf hostel

Australia (Since Oct 2019)

2020

Japan and South Korea (3 weeks)
a short trip in Feb

Australia (Since Oct 2019, 10 months)
work, quarantine. Road-tripped 4500km in NSW. Turned 23.

Europe (Since Aug 2020)
3 weeks hitchhiking and Couchsurfing around Switzerland.
Visited
Denmark and Swedish Lapland.
Then settled in
Berlin for half a year.

2021


Egypt (2 weeks)

While I was still based in Berlin, took a short trip with a friend.

Spain (2 months)

Left Berlin. Volunteered for one month in a permaculture project. Visited Andalucía, Madrid and the Basque country.

Mexico (2 months)

With Brexit, I had to leave the Schengen area. Took a 300Euro direct flight from Spain to Mexico.

Australia (4 months)

Brazil (2 weeks)

Visit Rio de Janeiro and Paraty - the world’s only tropical fjord.

Bolivia (2 weeks)

Did a 4WD tour around Uyuni and Laguna Colorada. Attempted to summit Huayna Potosi (6,088 m), climbed a 30m ice wall, and managed to reach 5,800m. Visited La Paz and Sucre.

2022

Peru (7 weeks)

Visited Cuzco, Puno, Arequipa and Lima. Did the 4 days Salkantay trek alone. Summited Chachani volcano (6,057 m) and Misti volcano (5,822 m).

Costa Rica (6 weeks)

Needed to stop hiking to rest my sprained ankle. Surfed and partied a lot.

Nicaragua (2 weeks)

I had to leave my drone at the land border because it is not allowed to enter the country. I would have liked to travel overland through Honduras to El Salvador. So now I have to fly from Costa Rica to El Salvador instead.

El Salvador (1 week)

Surfed along the coast.

Guatemala (1 month)

Experienced the famous Semana Santa of Antigua. Climbed volcano Acatenango to see Volcano Fuego erupt every 10 minutes! Celebrated my 25th birthday.

Mexico City (2 weeks)

Getting ready for the trip to Venezuela. Partied a lot.

Venezuela (2 weeks)

Climbed Mount Roraima, and visited the capital Caracus. Mount Roraima was a 7-day trek that turned into one of the craziest spiritual experiences I had.

Panama (1 day)

Explored the old town.

Colombia (3 weeks)

It was a last-minute decision to come over to Colombia. Visited Cartagena, Bogota and Medellin. I was a full-on tourist and partied a lot. It was a lot of fun.

Europe (July-Sep)

9 months of backpacking through Latin America have come to an end. I went through so many changes during this time. I had never matured so fast. I came to Europe to meet up with so many old friends. This summer I did not travel alone.
Visited: London, Berlin, Vienna, Budapest, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Corsica, South of France, Portugal, Croatia

London (since Sep 2022)

I am now based in London to pursue my passion for screenwriting and film directing. After achieving my dream of traveling the world, it’s now time to achieve my dream of becoming a film director. Fun fact: the flight I took to London is exactly the 100th flight I took since I left home. How crazy is that?

Christmas in Sydney 2022.

Biarritz, Palestine, and Israel (April 2023)

Short trip to Biarritz in France. Then a spontaneous trip to Palestine to celebrate Eid in Jerusalem. Visited Al Khalil (aka Hebron) and Masafer Yatta.
